Messiah University is a nationally ranked, private Christian university located on a scenic 471-acre suburban campus in central Pennsylvania, just 12 miles from the state capital of Harrisburg. The University was founded in 1909 by the Brethren in Christ Church. Today, the University’s faith base is broadly evangelical and includes students and employees from a variety of denominations and Christian faith traditions.

We have an undergraduate population of 2,495 students, hailing from 39 states and 22 countries. 19% of those students come from underrepresented racial, ethnic and cultural populations and 79% of our students are residential. There are over 150 undergraduate programs, with the largest programs being in Nursing, Business, Education, and Engineering. Messiah also has over 30 graduate degree and certificate programs with 736 graduate students enrolled. The majority of these students are pursuing online programs from 38 states around the country. 

The home base for this conference will be at Murray Library, which is located in the heart of campus. See the map below for directions from your housing location. This is the third location for Messiah's library - the first was located in the Harrisburg home of the institution's founder, S.R. Smith in 1908. When the school relocated to Grantham, the library could be found in Old Main, where there was an area for storing the books and a separate reading room. In 1958, the library was moved to the current physical location, which has incurred multiple additions and renovations over the years. 

Along with the changes to the facility itself, the library's collection has also developed. In 1914, there were only 300-400 books, but by 1958, due to the larger space, the number increased to around 48,000 books. When the library expanded in 1977, it was able to accommodate the current collection of 234,000 books.
