The Human Library: Tips for Readers


  • Sign up to read books here
  • If you registered beforehand, an email reminder will be sent to you
  • Sessions will start on time so please log on early to show respect to your Book and the other Readers
  • Each zoom session will begin with a general welcome and then you will be moved into a breakout room with your book.  Please be patient as this might take a few minutes.

Reader tips

  • The Reader must return the book in the same condition as when borrowed.
  • Loan period for each book is 30 minutes.
  • The Reader understands that the Book is telling their story and has the right to terminate the conversation if uncomfortable.
  • Respect the privacy of the conversation by not recording the interaction in any way.
  • Enjoy the experience of reading a living "book"

  • Do you have any advice for someone going through a situation similar to yours?
  • Is there a part of your story that you would change?
