Interlibrary Loan: ILL Migration Information

Interlibrary Loan Physical Lending Temporarily Suspended

Interlibrary Loan Physical Lending Temporarily Suspended for Murray Library Users between April 17 and May 12
Murray Library Users will be unable to request physical Interlibrary Loan materials (Books, DVDs, CDs, Scores) between April 17 and May 12, 2025 so that we can migrate to a new Interlibrary Loan (ILL software)

How will this impact the Messiah University Community?

  • There will be no impact on requests for digital materials (journal articles and book chapters).
  • Between April 17 and May 12, no new requests for physical materials may be placed.
  • All physical materials requested prior to the pause on April 17 will be due at the end of the semester (for students) or no later than July 15 (for faculty).
  • Users may still receive materials during the pause if requests are placed before April 17. They will be due at the end of the semester (for students) or no later than July 15 (for faculty).
  • When ILL resumes on May 12, requests for physical and digital materials will use the new system and due dates will return to the standard loan period for each user type. Instructions will be shared (see below).

Why are you making this change?
Our new software, Rapido, is integrated with Primo, our library catalog. This migration will allow students, faculty, and staff to seamlessly search for and request ILLs on a modern platform. To facilitate the migration, the library will need to pause ILL of physical materials (Books, DVDs, CDs) for approximately three weeks. Digital articles and digital book chapters will be available for request without interruption.

An ILL pause on physical materials (books, DVDs, CDs) will allow us to close out transactions on our existing software prior to the end of our ILLiad license on July 31, 2025 and prevent paying for two services at once.

Can I still request book chapters and journal articles?
Yes! Additionally, all of Murray Library’s existing resources will still be available to you!

When will my ILL requests be due?

  • All physical materials requested prior to the pause on April 17 will be due at the end of the semester (for students) or no later than July 15 (for faculty).
  • When ILL resumes on May 12, requests for physical and digital materials will use the new system and due dates will return to the standard loan period for each user type. Instructions will be shared (see below).

If I place a request on April 16, can I still receive the item?
Yes! Users may still receive materials during the pause if requests are placed before April 17. They will be due at the end of the semester (for students) or no later than July 15 (for faculty).

I am an online student or a graduate student. Can I still request books owned by Murray Library?
Yes! Online students and graduate students living outside of the Mechanicsburg area may continue to request books by mail

How will I use the new system?
Instructions will be provided for the new system shortly. Check your email or this website for more details!

I have additional questions, who can I ask?
Email LRCill@messiah.edu, contact Librarians Sarah Myers, Rachael Jasitt or Janet Vogel, or visit the Circulation Desk between 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, and we will be glad to answer your questions!
